The best part about visiting these parks is that they offer a wide variety of activities. From walking trails to tennis courts, swimming pools, and baseball diamonds – there’s something for everyone!
1. High Park
For fans of the great outdoors, there’s no better place in Toronto than High Park. This vast urban park is home to a free zoo, running trails, and miles of stunning nature. It’s also an ideal spot for a picnic, with plenty of picnic areas and sports facilities. Birds, fish, animals, and diverse plant species call this giant park home, so a day in the area is like taking a dream vacation.
There are many things to do at High Park, but one of the most popular is visiting the zoo. Here, you can see a range of impressive creatures, including peacocks, emus, llamas, highland cattle, and bison. The zoo’s location is great for families with young children, as it’s close to other attractions and amenities in the area. For example, you can take a walk through the park to check out the spring creek and west ravines nature trails. There are also a few playgrounds in the vicinity, as well as a wading pool and splash pad for your little ones.
2. Rosecrans Park
Located in historic Old Roseville, this park offers a variety of amenities and activities. It includes playgrounds for kids of all ages, sports fields, and horseshoe pits. The park also houses the Roseville Veterans Memorial Hall, a landmark that is over 30 years old. It has been recently refurbished and expanded and is now more than twice its original size.
This park was once a part of Fort Rosecrans, one of the first US military bases in San Diego. The cemetery is located within the grounds and is one of the largest national cemeteries in the country. Established in 1934, it was among seven new national cemeteries created between world wars to serve a growing veteran population. The cemetery is home to a historic tablet commemorating the 2,000-mile Mormon Battalion March from Iowa to California during the Mexican-American War (1846-1847). Other inscriptions include the Gettysburg Address, the Memorial Day Order, and the National Cemetery Act.
3. Inglewood Park
Located across the street from the Great Western Forum and a few blocks north of Hollywood Park race track, Inglewood Park is an attractive location for those who want to live in an inner-city neighborhood. It is a well-established area with plenty of amenities and services. Besides its wide range of parks, Inglewood also offers various sporting facilities and recreational activities for residents. Its main parks include Edward Vincent Jr. Park, which is a 55-acre park that is the largest and most popular in Inglewood.
The Park also has a Veterans’ Memorial Building, a community playhouse, and an outdoor amphitheater. It is a cultural landmark and crown jewel of the Inglewood Parks, Recreation, and Community Services department. Despite its proximity to the downtown core, Inglewood Park has a lower crime rate than many of the other major metropolitan areas in California. However, violent and property crimes are a significant concern for all people in the area.

4. Eshelman Park
Located on Eshelman Avenue in the Lomita subset of the City of Los Angeles, this is an excellent park to spend some time at. It features a dune that’s worth checking out, a full-sized basketball court, and a few other cool stuff. The park is also home to a nice-looking fountain and has a few nifty outdoor attractions.
If you’re looking for a good old-fashioned family picnic, this is the place to go. It’s also got an awesome playground and a full-sized soccer field, not to mention a bbq area. There’s a small gym with a couple of cool features and a couple of other smaller ones to boot, so you’ll have plenty to occupy your kids or yourself for hours on end. This park is a little on the pricey side, but it’s a worthy investment in quality family time. The best part is, this is all within easy reach of downtown Lomita and the rest of the City of Los Angeles.
